This 1,202 acre, irrigated farm has two units located east and northeast of Newell, South Dakota. The North Unit is located three miles northeast of Newell off of Highway 212 and consists of 402 acres with approximately 312 acres irrigated by three Valley low-pressure center pivots. The balance of the North Unit acreage consists of 20 flood irrigated acres along with approximately 70 acres of dryland hay ground. A new, 96x50 pole frame machine shed with 16 sidewalls and a 16 lean-to is located on the North Unit. The South Unit is located four miles east of Newell on Hope Road and consists of 800 acres with approximately 270 acres irrigated by three Valley low-pressure center pivots. The balance of the South Unit includes 220 flood irrigated acres and 301 acres of dryland hay ground and fenced pastures. There are two small livestock buildings and three Butte Meade Sanitary Water District water taps on the South Unit. All of the acreage under the six center pivots were seeded to alfalfa in the spring of 2015. Irrigation water for the pivots and flood irrigated ground is provided by the Belle Fourche Irrigation District which identifies 828.4 acres of allocated water to the farm at a cost of approximately $18,519 per year.
