LOCATION & ACCESS: The Hashknife Camp Ranch is located on Texas Hwy 674 about 25 miles from Rocksprings in Edwards County. This location insures seclusion but is still a convenient distance from town for supplies and cafes. Highway frontage insures year-round, all-weather access.

IMPROVEMENTS: The Camp House is a serviceable and comfortable cabin which will sleep four with kitchen and bathroom facilities. The septic system works but was installed by previous owners, so the current owners can provide no information about its permitting or licensing status. The Camp House's glassed-in porch provides entertaining, panoramic night and day viewing of the diverse wildlife on the ranch that gathers around the feeder and water trough on the flat out front. The big shed is a few yards away from the Camp House with lighted cleaning racks, water, and electricity.

FENCING: Fencing condition is poor to good. North boundary is unfenced. Large neighbors.

WATER: There is a solar powered water well near the Camp House which produces but pumps off quickly during periods of drought. A reliable supply of water can be established with proper pumping and storage equipment.

TOPOGRAPHY: The ranch topography is classic Hill Country, with rolling hills sloping into oak filled flats. The ranchs overall layout is characterized by connected, high ridge hills on the north, south, and west encircling a central, wide valley. In addition to its location, this physical feature further insures great privacy for the entire ranch. The valley is criss-crossed with medium to small dry creeks - one with a well-constructed bridge for convenient crossing. The West Prong of the Nueces River intersects at the northeast boundary of the ranch. This feature provides massive amounts of runoff and lingering potholes of water after wet periods for game. At one time, according to prior owners, the Kickapoo Indians lived on the ranch. Relics and arrowheads are scattered throughout the property.

COVER: Cedar has been controlled historically, so the remaining vegetation is medium to heavy but not overly dense and what remains is mostly the more desirable browse and cover for game. Scattered Pion Pine trees hint at the ranchs location near the northern edge of the Texas Transition Zone, an area where the Edwards Plateau and South Texas blend together, characterized by vegetation common to both regions. Some say it provides the best of both regions.

GAME: The Hashknife Camp House Ranch is carved out of the southeastern part of the Psalm XXIII Ranch which consists of several thousand acres. A feeding program in place for several years has maintained a good population of white-tail deer. According to a biologists habitat report of the Psalm XXIII ranch prepared several years ago (copy available upon request), other species present on the ranch include Axis deer, Aoudad, Mouflon Sheep, Spanish goats, Rio Grande turkey, Bobwhite quail, Montezuma Quail, Feral hogs, raccoon, coyote, bobcat, and gray fox. A whitetail buck harvested from the Psalm XXIII ranch won the Edwards County big buck contest in 2008.
