Established ranch located on the Las Animas/ Baca County line. The Gooden ranch is two different pieces one mile apart, totaling at 5,527 acres M/L of pasture, CRP, Ashe Juniper canyons, and rock outcroppings. The ranch headquarters is a 1,959 square foot 4 bed, 2 bath rock home nestled in cedar trees on the southern portion. It has a 40'x60' quonset, complete with 220v electricity for industrial applications and also boasts a 2 story 40'x90' calving barn. The intentionally situated ranch provides for a smooth operation. The headquarters is located off of the county road allowing easy access for shipping. One set of corrals is located at the headquarters allowing for efficient processing, sorting, and shipping of livestock in poor weather conditions and during calving season while another set is conveniently located on the north for gathering, processing, and shipping during the months of fairer weather. The west edge and south portion of the ranch has over 955 acres of CRP. This provides ample cover for wildlife without the fear of grazing and also an income of over $32,000 annually. This CRP filters eastward into the cedars of historic "Freezeout" Canyon. This canyon is famed for a civil war tragedy and is also littered with Native American artifacts.
