The Texas Panhandle gets its name for its proximity to the handle-shaped portion of its neighbor, Oklahoma. It is the state's least populated region. A total of almost 5,000 acres were listed for sale in Texas's Sherman County recently, representing a total value of approximately $145 million in Sherman County farms, ranches, hunting land and other land for sale. Sherman County ranks 236th in the state for the combined amount of land currently advertised for sale. Stratford featured the most land for sale. Agriculture and farming drives the Sherman County economy, with 313 farms recorded in the county during the U.S. Census in 2012. Farming activities in Sherman County generate annual revenues of $13 million, the majority of which comes from livestock products. Sherman County is Texas's 121st biggest county (923 square miles). It's located in the Panhandle Texas region of the state.
